Sternberg named to Freedom Bank board of directors

Freedom Bancorp, Inc. has announced the appointment of Derek Sternberg to its board of directors to fulfill the term of the late Albert “Jack” Sternberg.

He was also appointed to the Audit Committee and the Investment Committee at Freedom Bank’s annual reorganization meeting held on April 22, 2014.

Sternberg is the CEO of Sternberg Automotive Group, a Jasper-based car and truck dealership with locations in Jasper, Evansville, Bloomington, Dale and Louisville, Kentucky.

He is also a certified public accountant with past work experience with Ernst and Young, LLP of Louisville.

Sternberg grew up in Jasper and attended Holy Family Grade School and Jasper High School where he graduated as valedictorian in 1989. He then graduated with full honors with a Business of Administration Degree from Bellarmine University of Louisville, Kentucky in 1993.

He is involved in the local community; especially with the youth programs. He is also a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church and is a member of the Knights of Columbus. His favorite pastimes include coaching baseball, playing golf, and spending time with his family.

Sternberg is also the youngest recipient of the Circle of Excellence, an international designation of top dealers. An honor he has received seven times.

Sternberg resides in Jasper with his wife, Vicky, and their three children ages 13, 10 and 7. His parents, Thomas and Patricia Sternberg, are also long term residents of the local community.
