Stephen Howard, 84

Stephen Howard, age 84, of Jasper passed away at 10:18 a.m., Friday (June 8, 2012) at home.
Stephen was born in Whitesville, Kentucky on April 8, 1928 to John Louis and Mary Elve (Payne) Howard. He married Martha Fromme on November 24, 1949 at St. Celestine Catholic Church.
Stephen worked at Leland Lumber Company and Krempp Lumber Company, and he retired from the St. Vincent DePaul Store, where he was manager.
He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, a founding member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society at Holy Family Parish, and also a member of the Jasper Outdoor Recreation, the Knights of Columbus, the Holy Name Society, the Holy Family Christ Renews His Parish, and Cursillo. He was a Stephen Minister and a Eucharistic Minister.
Stephen received the Simon Brute Society Award and the Mother Teresa Award for all his work with the Church and the Community.
He enjoyed working with wood, word searches, fishing, and spending time with his family.

Funeral services for Stephen Howard will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday (June 11, 2012) at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, with entombment to follow in the Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum.
Friends may call from 1:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday (June 10, 2012) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. The Holy Family Men’s Christ Renews His Parish Group will say a Rosary at 1:00 p.m.
