Stella R. Lubbers, 92, St. Anthony

Stella R. Lubbers, 92, St. Anthony, passed away at 3:20 a.m. on, November 22, 2016, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.
Stella was born in Schnellville, Indiana, on November 27, 1923 to Cyrene and Veronica (Dudine) Welp. She married Roman J. Lubbers on May 2, 1942 in New Albany by Monsignor John Dudine. Her husband preceded her in death on November 23, 2009.
She retired from Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper and also worked for TRICAP in Jasper. She was a member of Divine Mercy Parish St. Anthony of Padua Campus, the St. Anthony Christian Mothers and the Jasper Circle of the Daughters of Isabella. She was also a member of the St. Anthony American Legion Post #493 Auxiliary, The Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, the VFW Post #673 Auxiliary, Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Dubois County Museum.
She enjoyed baking, embroidery, making crafts, flower gardening, and spending time with friends and family.
She is survived by five daughters, Janet Kluemper and husband Dave of Jasper, Ruth Goepfrich and husband Jim of Ferdinand, Judy Kerstiens and husband Ralph of St. Anthony, Jean Weyer and husband John of Ferdinand and Rhonda Knust and husband Gary of St. Anthony; two sons, Roman Joe Lubbers and wife Janet of St. Anthony and Ronnie Lubbers and wife Mich of St. Anthony; 14 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; one brother, Merlyn Welp and wife Kathy of Schnellville.
Preceding her in death besides her husband was one daughter; Joyce Marie Lubbers, one great-granddaughter; Aubrey Geopfrich, step-mother; Mary Welp, two sisters; Virginia Schnell-Fleck and Ethellee Welp, and two brothers; Virgil Welp and Clifford Welp.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Stella Lubbers will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2016, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Anthony, Indiana, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 25, 2016, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, IN, and from 9:00 a.m. until the 10:00 a.m services at church on Saturday. The St. Anthony Christian Mothers will pray the rosary at 1:45 p.m on Friday at the funeral home. The St. Anthony American Legion Post #493 Auxiliary will conduct a memorial service at 4:00 p.m.
