Stations of the Cross at Holy Trinity

Holy Trinity 5th-grade students performed the annual presentation of Jesus’ walk to the cross on Thursday morning at Holy Trinity’s East Campus.
The performance invites the students to portray the journey to the cross in a meaningful and memorable way through the 14 Stations of the Cross. Each year, students apply to portray the various biblical figures involved in Jesus’s condemnation, crucifixion and burial.
The 14 Stations of the Cross begin with Jesus’s sentence under Pontius Pilate and end with Jesus’s burial. During the somber event, students, teachers and visitors are invited to reflect on these moments from Jesus’s life. At each station, the students spoke about the meaning and led songs through the procession.
The stations are as follows.
- Jesus is condemned to death
- Jesus takes up his cross
- Jesus falls the first time
- Jesus meets his mother, Mary
- Simon of Cyrene helps carry the cross
- Veronica wipes the face of Jesus
- Jesus falls a second time
- Jesus meets the women of Jerusalem
- Jesus falls a third time
- Jesus is stripped of his garments
- Jesus is nailed to the cross
- Jesus dies on the cross
- Jesus is taken down from the cross
- Jesus is laid in the tomb
