State police arrest Loogootee man for possession of child sex abuse material

Members of the Indiana State Police’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit, with assistance from the Loogootee Police Department, arrested a Loogootee man for possession of child sex abuse material involving bestiality, a level 5 felony.

Trevor Moffatt, 32, Loogootee, was arrested Tuesday, March 31, 2026, following the execution of a residential search warrant.

Detective Robert Whyte initiated the investigation in February 2026, after receiving a National Center for Missing and Exploited Children cyber tip alleging criminal activity. The cyber tip was provided by a social media/cloud application alleging that a user had been uploading Child Sex Abuse Material. Investigators then substantiated the allegations in the cyber tip.

During the investigation, a suspect in Loogootee was also identified, and a residential search warrant to collect and examine electronic devices was requested through the Martin County Prosecuting’s Office. It was served successfully by ISP Detectives and Loogootee Police Officers. An interview with Mr. Moffat was conducted, and after the interview and seizure of the devices, Moffat was placed under arrest and transported to the Martin County Sheriff’s Department.

Moffatt was charged with a single count of Possession of Child Sex Abuse Material (files depicting bestiality), a level 5 Felony.

Forensic examinations of the devices are still being completed. Additional charges are pending.
