St. Vincent dePaul Jasper District announces inaugural scholarship recipients 

St. Vincent dePaul Jasper District is pleased to announce the recipients of its inaugural scholarship program. Launched in 2025, this unique scholarship program is designed to support individuals seeking an associate’s degree, skilled trades degree, technical certification or apprenticeship with the goal to help enable a pathway to a successful career and financial stability. The program also includes a mentor assigned to each scholarship recipient. 

Eligibility for this program includes individuals of all ages in Dubois and Spencer Counties who are seeking to continue their education in high-demand skilled trades careers and who demonstrate significant financial need.  Award recipients, known as St. Vincent dePaul Scholars, will receive up to $1,500 in financial assistance per semester for a maximum of two years.

Scholarships will be awarded based on financial need, letters of recommendation, school/community service activities, academic achievement, and personal strengths. Once awarded, the scholar’s eligibility is reviewed after each semester to verify that he/she continues to be enrolled and is in good standing. The role of the assigned mentor is to provide encouragement, support and guidance.  

The 2025 St. Vincent dePaul scholars include the following individuals. Please join us in congratulating these outstanding individuals.

Lexi Furhman is a 2025 graduate of Northeast Dubois High School. She will attend Vincennes University majoring in Agribusiness. She is currently working on her family’s farm with an aspiration for a career in agriculture.

Noah Wright is a 2025 graduate of Southridge High School. He will attend Vincennes University majoring in Industrial Maintenance. He is currently working at Toyota as a member of Southridge’s prestigious 4T program. Completing his degree will provide a pathway to full time employment at Toyota in the Maintenance department. 

Jenna Kendall is an alumnus of Southridge High School. She is currently attending Advanced Massage Therapeutics in Louisville to achieve her license as a massage therapist.  

Brianne Rainey is an alumnus of Southridge High School. She will attend John A. Gupton College to become a licensed Funeral Director. She has been a teacher at Holland Elementary School for 14 years and is transitioning to employment at Rainey Funeral Home in Dale, working alongside her husband.  

Ruby Sacara is an alumnus of Forest Park High School. She is currently attending Vincennes University majoring in Funeral Service. She aspires to be a skilled embalmer serving multiple funeral homes.

Clare Neukam is an alumnus of Northeast Dubois High School. She will attend online classes to achieve a certification in Fertility Education and Medical Management to provide education in Natural Family Planning. She currently works as the Parish Catechetical Leader at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg.Miranda Ramiriz-Lopez is a 2025 graduate of Southridge High School. She will be attending Vincennes University Jasper pursuing an Associate’s of Science in nursing. She currently works part-time at Farbest.
