St. Patrick’s Celebration set to kick off this Friday

The annual St. Patrick’s Celebration in Ireland will kick off with a few events this Friday and Saturday.

Friday

On Friday, March 1, the Honorary Mayors for a Day will kick off at 6:30 p.m. at the Chicken Place. The 15th Annual Celebration Mayors are Mike and Carol Schmitt. Then, the Light Up Ireland flip of the switch will take place.

At 8 p.m., the St. Paddy Whack Sham-Rock/Paper/Scissors contest will take place at The Rock Bar & Grill, Bar Room for those 21 and older. The entry fee into the contest is $10, with a maximum of 50 entries.

The Tator Tot Baby Photo Contest also launches on Friday, March 1. Vote for your favorite baby photo at the German American Bank branch in Ireland on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays or online at stpatsirelandin.com/photocontest.

Saturday

On Saturday, March 2, the 2024 Shamrock Pageant will be held at Jasper Middle School Theatre. The Little’s Pageant is at 1:00 p.m., and Miss/Teen is at 4:00 p.m. The entry fee is $5.00 (under 4 are free), and light concessions will be available.
