St. Joseph Church packing 70,000 meals this Saturday, July 19, volunteers welcome to help

St. Joseph Church is excited to announce its first community food packing event, scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2025. Volunteers will pack 70,000 meals to ship to areas of severe hunger around the world, facilitated by Cross Catholic Outreach. Some meals will be distributed by the Dubois County Food Bank for local families facing food insecurity. This initiative brings together individuals, families, businesses, and organizations for a day of giving back and making a tangible difference both locally and globally.
“We’re beyond excited to introduce this joyful event for the very first time at St. Joe,” said Courtney Schmidt, event coordinator. “This is a powerful opportunity for our community to unite and make a real difference. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, and we can’t wait to see how we can impact both our local families and those around the world. It’s truly inspiring to be part of something that brings so many people together for such a meaningful cause.”
This event is supported by many individuals and community sponsors who have contributed to the cause. Together, these generous donors have helped raise over $23,000 to fund the cost of the meal ingredients.
In addition to packing food, attendees will have the chance to build camaraderie with fellow community members, enjoy light refreshments, and participate in a fun and meaningful event they won’t soon forget.
“We are deeply grateful to the individual donors, sponsors, and volunteers. Without their generosity and commitment, this event wouldn’t be possible,” said Schmidt. “Their unwavering dedication to helping others is nothing short of inspiring. It’s a powerful reminder of the strength of our community and what we can achieve when we come together with a shared purpose.”
