St. Henry Sesquicentennial Celebration starts June 8

On June 8th, 9th and 10th, the community of St. Henry, Indiana, will be having their Sesquicentennial to celebrate 150 years. Special events are scheduled during the three day celebration including a Kiddie Tractor Pull, Tobacco Spitting contest, 4 mile Run/Walk, Car Show sponsored by the St. Henry Volunteer Fire Department and Best Home Furnishings, Horseshoe tourney, WBDC Tournament of Champions cornhole tourney, and Brothers of the Brush beard contest.

Other events include a parade on Sunday afternoon, an Old Time Demo and Display by the Early Days Antique Club, and kids games and bounce house.

A Wine Among Friends wine tasting event will be held Saturday afternoon with several Southern Indiana wineries in attendance and featuring Turtle Run Winery from Corydon, IN and Best Vineyards Winery from Elizabeth, IN. Also included with the wineries will be a local grower and producer of organic foods, Steckler Grassfed. Steckler Grassfed will be showcasing their homemade organic cheese in the wine tasting area.

As always, plate dinners will be offered on Friday and Saturday evenings featuring our famous St. Henry style barbecue chicken, pork chops, or fried chicken. Homemade desserts, hamburgers, ice cream, cotton candy, brats, hot dogs, extreme nachos, pretzels, fish sandwiches, steak sandwiches and a variety of other fest fare will be available.

Souvenirs to commemorate the 150th celebration are also available for purchase. Items include different styles and sizes of Tervis Tumblers, can koozies, t-shirts, hats, large and small crocks, and suspenders. Supplies are limited. The Christian Mothers have a cookbook for sale and Fran Jerger’s storybook, Reflections and Tales About St. Henry, will also be available for purchase.

Entertainment for the weekend will feature The Hiding on Friday and Saturday evening beginning at 9:00pm, the Recycled Teenagers on Friday evening at 6:00pm, the Rhein Valley Brass Band on Saturday evening at 6:00pm, and the Celebration Singers on Sunday morning at 11:00am.
