Spring into Action! Dubois County Medication Collection Day is Saturday, April 30th

The sponsors of the Dubois County Medication Collection Day want you to spring into action and dispose of your old medications properly.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, April 30 to dispose of expired, unwanted and unused medications at three locations throughout the county. In addition to the one-day collection locations, the Huntingburg Police Department has a 24/7 medication drop box in their lobby available for any Dubois County resident at any time.

Collection sites on April 30 are as follows: The Birdseye Fire Station, 9 W. 1st. Street, and the Haysville Fire Station, 195 W. St. Rd. 56, will collect from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. ET. The Jasper State Police Post, located at 2209 Newton Street, will collect from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

As previously mentioned, the Huntingburg Police Station accepts pharmaceuticals anytime year-round in the drop box at the lobby of their temporary location of 214 E. 17th Street.

Expired, unwanted, and unused medications, vitamins, ointments, syrups, drops and aerosols not in pressurized containers will be accepted at the collection sites. No sharps, infectious materials (anything containing bodily fluids), or waste will be collected. Sites are open to Dubois County households only.

Law enforcement officers are present at each location to oversee disposal, as well as volunteers and staff from the other Collection Day sponsors. Residents with questions may contact the Dubois County Solid Waste District at 812-482-7865.

Sponsors include the Indiana State Police, Dubois County Sheriff’s Department, Substance Abuse Council, Fire Stations, TRI-CAP RSVP, Habig Older Americans Center, Dubois County Solid Waste Management District and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
