Spencer County man Lifeflighted after ATV crash

A 56-year-old Chrisney man was seriously injured when he was thrown from the ATV he was operating Tuesday evening.

According to conservation officers, Mark Horn was operating an ATV on County Road 200E, about 200 yards south of State Road 7o intersection at about 6:00 p.m. when it left the roadway for an unknown reason and he was ejected. The ATV came back onto the roadway and rolled onto its side. 

Residents near the accident scene called 9-1-1 and performed CPR until emergency medical services arrived. He was Lifeflighted from the scene to St. Mary’s Medical Center and was last reported to be in a serious but stable condition.

Horn was not wearing a helmet and alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor. The accident is still under investigation.

Responding agencies included Spencer County EMS, Chrisney Fire Department, Grand View Fire Department, Spencer County Sheriff’s Department, St. Mary’s Life-flight and Indiana Conservation Officers.
