Speck Mellencamp exhibit opens at Thyen-Clark Cultural Center this week

Seymour, IN, artist Speck Mellencamp’s exhibit at the Thyen-Clark Cultural Center will be on display in February and March 2025.

The solo exhibition features a variety of over 30 large oil paintings.
Mellencamp’s paintings resemble the intensity of German Expressionist figurative works, similar to his father’s, John Mellencamp’s artwork. The colors featured in Speck’s Mellencamp’s paintings are muted, yet beautiful. The colors add richness to his work, with impressionistic-like highlights contributing much to the overall effectiveness of the paintings themselves.
Speck Mellencamp was born in 1995 and has always been interested in art. He was always drawing at a young age. As a kid he remembers watching his father paint. Speck and his father have collaborated on a few paintings over the years.
Speck Mellencamp attended the Rhode Island School of Design and studied in Greece. He is now the Executive Director at The Southern Indiana Center for the Arts.
Speck will join us for the evening and will answer a few questions in his gallery at The First Thursday Reception on Thursday, February 6th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Free event and open to the public.
