Harold Hill, played by Carson Blair, whips the town up into a frenzy over the existence of a pool table.

Southridge High School will present the student production of “The Music Man” this week.

“The Music Man” follows fast-talking con man Professor Harold Hill, who arrives in River City, Iowa, in 1912, planning to swindle residents by selling them instruments and uniforms for a boys’ marching band he has no intention of teaching.

Exploiting fears about a new pool table and moral decline, he whips the proud town into a patriotic frenzy, signing up nearly every boy—including shy Winthrop Paroo—while skillfully dodging suspicion from Mayor Shinn and the school board.

The only person not taken in is Marian Paroo, the principled librarian, yet as she watches her brother gain confidence through the band, her doubts soften—even after discovering evidence of Harold’s past scams.

Here are a few photos of the Southridge production.
