South Carolina man arrested for marijuana possession
Huntingburg — Officers ended a call for a disturbance at the Quality Inn with a drug arrest early Tuesday morning.
Officers from the Huntingburg Police Department, Dubois County Sheriff’s Department, and the Indiana State Police responded to the Quality Inn at about 1:16 a.m. for a disturbance call. While officers were responding to the disturbance, they noticed an odor of marijuana as they passed a room on the way to the disturbance.
Once the disturbance investigation was complete, officers returned to the room emitting the odor and made contact with the occupant, Alex Gorham of Spartansburg, South Carolina.
Gorham allowed the officers into the room. While in the room, the officers noticed the marijuana odor was stronger and a subsequent search located a baggie of marijuana and paraphernalia.
Gorham admitted to being the owner of the items and he was arrested for an A misdemeanor count of possession of paraphernalia and a B misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana.
Police booked Gorham into the Dubois County Security Center without incident.
