Some photos from the Emergency Management Drill
A county-wide emergency drill was held last Wednesday at the Holland Elementary School Gymnasium and at Memorial Hospital. The team that conducted the tabletop exercise in August, Industrial Safety and Training Services (ISTS), returned to put on the full scale exercise.
Here is the article about the tabletop exercise.
The emergency consisted of a chemical explosion that occurred at the Holland Gymnasium. Several “victims” were lying around outside the location and other victims were located in the building. EMS also transported victims to Memorial Hospital. Memorial staff were required to treat chemical burns and other factors involved in a poisonous chemical spill.
At the scene firefighters responded and began to decontaminate the area and attempt to retrieve victims from within the building. EMS responded to the scene as well as police officers.
According to Tammy Miller the observers gave the Dubois County emergency responders good marks on their response and procedures during the exercise.
The photos below are graphic in nature but no one in the photos was actually injured.
