Sister Annette Schipp, 99, St. Mary of the Woods

Sister Annette Schipp, 99, died peacefully at 8:20 a.m. on July 14, 2021, at St. Mary of the Woods.

Sister Annette was born on July 9, 1922, in Ferdinand to Albert J. and Anna Wilmes Schipp. She was baptized Edna Carolyn.

She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Providence in 1940. Sister earned a bachelor’s degree from St. Mary-of-the-Woods College and a master’s degree from Indiana University.

Sister Annette is survived by nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Catherine Schipp and Dorothy Thomas, and four brothers, Robert, Albert, Jr. (Jim), Frank, and Ron Schipp.

Sister Annette was in every way, a beautiful person. One noticed her sparkling eyes, her radiant smile, and gentle demeanor, all of which manifested her prayerful, loving, welcoming spirit. She loved teaching and spent 49 years in elementary education of which 15 years was at Precious Blood in Jasper, IN.

Visitation is on Wednesday, July 21 beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the Church of the Immaculate Conception followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Guests are welcome, but a mask must be worn. Burial is in the cemetery of the Sisters of Providence.
