Silas W. Spaulding, 83, Jasper

Silas W. Spaulding, 83, Jasper, passed away at 3:12 a.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2017, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana.
Silas was born at Alfordsville, Indiana on October 4, 1933, to William and Catherine (Colvin) Spaulding. He married Beverly Batchelor on Oct 1, 1961, St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Washington, Indiana.
Silas retired from DMI in Ferdinand, Indiana for many years. After retirement, he worked in security at Jasper Engines.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper.
He enjoyed collections coins as a hobby, involved in original Dubois County Coin Club. Also was an organizer in the development of the Patoka Valley Center in Jasper.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly A. Spaulding of Jasper; daughter, Kim Street of Jasper; son, Ron Spaulding and wife Sue of Jasper; four granddaughters and four great-grandchildren; five sisters, Margaret Bridgewater of Loogootee, Claire Batchelor of Plainfield, Martha Cox of Kentucky, Mary Beasley of Bedford and Carolyn Blake of Bedford; two brothers, James Spaulding and wife (Luella) of Washington and Tony Spaulding and wife Lorna of Mitchell.
Preceding him in death is one daughter Sherri Spaulding; four sisters, Pat Crane, Louise Wheeler, Elivna Spaulding and Rose Mary Robinson; two brothers, Frank Spaulding and Joe Spaulding.
Funeral services for Silas W. Spaulding will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, with burial to follow in St. John’s Cemetery in Washington, Indiana.
Friends may call from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 9, 2016, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to a favorite charity.
