Sheriff’s Department seeking owner of stolen boat (updated)

Update:

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department reported the boat is believed to have been stolen from an owner in the Leavenworth, Indiana area. The probable owner plans to look at the boat in the near future to make a positive identification.

Officers from the Dubois County Sheriffs Department extended a thanks to the public for all of the tips to move the case forward.

The investigation will be ongoing for the immediate future. According to deputies, if any arrests are made, details will be released to the public.

boat2boat1The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department is seeking the owner of a boat they presume is stolen.

According to authorities, deputies and officers from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources recovered the boat from a residence south of the Birdseye area with its hull identification number removed.  

Investigators think the boat is a 1997 Fisher F20 Fish and Ski. It has a 200 horsepower Mercury outboard motor and was on a Fisher boat trailer.

Authorities don’t know where or from whom the boat was stolen.
