Sheriff’s department issues driving warning
The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department has responded to several accidents since the snow hit Dubois County overnight.
According to the department, deputies have responded to 15 reported accidents or slide offs between 1:45 a..m. and 9:07 a.m.
They report that the majority of the snow was in the southern section of the county but the roadways are rapidly freezing over and becoming slick and dangerous all over the area.
They recommend that motorists give themselves extra time to get to their destinations. Also, clean snow and ice from windows and mirrors of their vehicle and maintain extra distance between other vehicles when driving.
Motorists should also keep an emergency kit with water, flashlight, blankets, gloves, lighter, candle, traffic cone, change of clothes, and dry food in their vehicles in case they would be stranded for a long period of time.
