Shelly Seger is opening Shelly’s Unique Boutique on Saturday at 10 a.m. It’s a fun consignment and up-cycled clothing shop at 706 Main St. in Jasper.

Shelly Seger’s new business on Main Street in Jasper is a culmination of her favorite hobby, shopping, and her favorite job, retail sales. The aptly named Shelly’s Unique Boutique allows her to buy fashionable, quality, slightly used clothes and then resell them to women who want to look great but save a few dollars in the process.

“Women like to change their closets, their wardrobes,” Shelly said. “This is a less expensive way of doing that and they can make money by selling me their used clothing.”

The boutique is lively with bright colors and stylish decoration. Seger says the colors help people notice her and accentuate the fun atmosphere of the boutique.  “I wanted to go for the boutique look,” Shelly explained about 706 Main Street location.

The Jasper-native’s many friends and family members have already helped her fill the store with racks of jeans, shirts, skirts and even bags and purses. Once the word got out about her business the items started pouring in. She has also relied on help from her husband Bill Seger and daughters, Gwen Persohn and Shanelle Best, in renovating and decorating the store.

In addition to the up-cycled clothing, she also carries a line of new jewelry and in the future will be searching out overstock new clothing to sell at big savings for her customers.

Seger says the store isn’t just for the stylish budget-bound fashionista, it also appeals to women losing weight. “I have several friends and family members that have been losing weight,” she said, “and this is a less expensive option to replace clothing that is now too large. As they continue to lose weight they can continue to look stylish.”

Seger also offers personal help in putting a wardrobe together for customers. “I love putting wardrobes together,” she said.

They even offer to come to local residents’ homes to help clean out closets.

Seger opens her doors for the first time on Saturday at 10 a.m. Her normal hours will be Monday and Thursday 10 a.m to 8 p.m.; Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The store’s number is 812-482-9876.
