Sheila Marie Werne, 65

Sheila Marie Werne, 65, passed away Monday evening at Norton Hospital in Louisville. 

She was born in Huntingburg on July 28, 1959, to Andrew and Rita (Mehling) Werne. S

Sheila grew up on a dairy farm in northern Spencer County. She was a 1977 graduate of Heritage Hills High School. She earned an Associate’s Degree at Vincennes University Jasper in 1979 and was an administrative assistant at DMI in Huntingburg for 15 years. 

Since 1997, Sheila was a member of a religious community.

Sheila is survived by three siblings, Sharon (and Mike Gomez) Werne of Princeton, Indiana; Gary (and Paula) Werne of Ferdinand; Wayne Werne of Ferdinand; several nephews, a niece, and multiple cousins. 

She was predeceased by her parents and stillborn brother, David. 

Sheila’s funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 25, at 11 a.m. EST at Saint Anthony Church in China, Indiana. Visitation will begin at 9:30 ET at the church.

Interment will follow at Saint Anthony Catholic Cemetery.
