Sharon Kay Heaton, 81, Jasper

Sharon Kay Heaton, 81, of Jasper, passed away at 9:20 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Brookside Village in Jasper.

Sharon was born in St. Joseph County, Ind., on November 25, 1941. She was the daughter of Clarence and Marie Hudson of Jasper.

She married Dennis Dale Heaton on October 14, 1959, in Gentryville, Ind.. He preceded her in death on September 28, 2020.

Sharon retired from Kimball International after many years of service.

She enjoyed crossword and picture puzzles, bowling, fishing, birdwatching, camping, decorating for holidays, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.    

She is survived by two daughters, Yvonne Engelbrecht (Gerald) of Jasper and Vicki Henke (Cory) of Jasper; four sons, Randy Heaton (Raina) of Haysville, N.C., Dean Heaton (Jennifer) of Jasper, Brian Heaton of Jasper, and Eric Heaton (Lea) of Spurgeon; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and one brother, Gerald “Buck” Hudson,

Preceding her in death beside her husband were her parents and sisters Nancy Truelove, Jean Poe, Evelyn Borrell, Catherine Rafferty, and Sue Berg.

A visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, with burial to follow at a later date in Shiloh Cemetery in Jasper. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dubois County Humane Society.
