Shared Abundance getting a much needed facelift

Huntingburg Christian Ministries has started a remodeling project at Shared Abundance on 4th Street. Tuesday evening the group roped off the area around the Abundance building and at 4:30 Wednesday morning they began tearing the front off.

“The windows were leaky and actually beginning to fall out.” Bill Kaiser, Ministries President, said. “We knew something had to be done so the volunteers got a plan together to replace the front and do some remodeling at the same time.”
The group is working with Alvin Braun, another member of the Huntingburg

Christian Ministries, to model the front of Shared Abundance as it looked when it was Ruetepohler Hardware Company. The group used old photographs to design the new look.
Along with the facelift the interior is receiving some needed updates. Six inch stud walls are being installed to allow for insulation along the wall bordering the bank parking lot and the floor is being repaired where it has buckled. New shelves and a new sales counter are also going to be installed.
The remodel has been planned for some time as the group collected donations for the past five years to finance the construction.
“We plan on being back open by August 23 with a full selection of fall and winter items.” Kaiser said.
Donations are still needed and can be made by contacting the Huntingburg Christian Ministries at 683-5490.
