Selma Irene Meyer, 97

Selma Irene Meyer, age 97, of Stendal, Indiana, passed away at 7:15 p.m., Thursday, February 14, 2013 at The Waters of Huntingburg nursing center in Huntingburg.
She was born July 27, 1915 in Pikeville, Indiana to Owen and Edith (Martin) Collins. She married Victor Meyer on December 23, 1939 in Stendal, Indiana.
Selma was a retired elementary school teacher having taught for 34 years in both Pike and Warrick County. She graduated from the Indiana State Teacher’s College at Terra Haute and received her bachelor’s degree from Oakland City College.
Selma was a life-long member of the Church of Christ in Pikeville. She was an avid reader; loved to crochet and work puzzles of all kinds; and loved to go bowling – bowling her last game when she was 94 years old.
Selma was preceded in death by: her husband, Victor Meyer, who passed away in 1993; and one sister, Kay Corn.
She is survived by:
Two sons and two daughter-in-laws,
- Gary (Ruth) Meyer – Jasper, IN
- Dale (Mary) Meyer – Holland, IN
by seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Selma Irene Meyer will be held at 10:00 a.m., E.S.T., on Monday, February 18, 2013 at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery in Stendal.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 4:00-8:00 p.m., on Sunday.
