Scott L. Brown, 77, Holland

Scott L. Brown, 77, of Holland, passed away on August 31, 2026, at his home.

He was born on December 11, 1948 and graduated with the 1967 class of Huntingburg High School.  

Scott was a metal fabricator and worked in maintenance at Prairie Farms/Holland Dairy.

 He was lovingly raised by his grandparents, Leonard and Hazel Brown and married Beth Hochmeister on July 27, 1974, by Rev. Elshoff at Central Christian Church in Huntingburg.  

Scott was an accomplished bowler. He also loved hunting and would go with his wife and daughter, Melissa, to shooting ranges for target practice. While Sue watched, Melissa became a young “Annie Oakley” under her father’s guidance.  

He was a member of Dubois County Masonic Lodge # 520 F&Am and Holland American Legion #343.  

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his mother, Maxine Mendel.

Scott is survived by his wife, Beth Brown; daughter, Melissa Hodge; two grandsons, Joshua and Jonathan Hodge; sisters, Marsha, Susie and Judy; and his sisters and brothers-in-law.

Visitation for Scott Brown will be held at Nass and Son Funeral Home on Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. EDT, with a Masonic memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Mayo Cemetery.  Pastor Steve Stilwell will officiate the service.  

Memorial contributions may be made to the Dubois County Humane Society.
