Schnellville Day this Sunday

The Dubois County Museum will host Schnellville Day along with its Spring Heritage Days on Sunday, April 19, 2015 from 1-4 p.m.

The day will feature demonstrations depicting what life was like in Schnellville in the late 1800s to early 1900s.

Schnellville was founded in 1865, and the town will celebrate it’s 150th birthday this year.

Delicious foods from this time frame will be served as Schnellville residents re-enact how to make them. These include the following:  homemade butter, dutch oven cooking,  sorghum, homemade chicken n’ dumplings,  bread, cobbler, and ice cream.

“Moonshine” demonstrations will also take place.

Other demonstrations include the following:  clover seed cleaning, quilting, loom weaving, 2-man sawing, sheep shearing, arrowheads, scrapbooking, and blacksmith.

Main Street Dubois County will also be occupied with past residents from Schnellville selling their trades.

You might recall some of the characters from The Voices of Schnellville: Whispers from the Past that took place in October 2014.  The schoolroom will be occupied with a teacher, and children will play games from late 1800s.
