Schnarr seeks to retain Jasper Council seat

Greg Schnarr will seek re-election for the 2nd District seat on the Jasper Common Council.

Schnarr was first elected in 2011 and is serving in his fourth year on the council.

Schnarr, a graduate of Jasper High School, received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Wabash College and received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Indiana University School of Law.

“I feel that my experience as an attorney gives me the background needed to do an effective job as city councilman for the City of Jasper,” Schnarr said.  “I listen to the concerns and issues facing my clients on a regular basis and am able to advocate their positions and will continue to do the same for the citizens of Jasper.”

In addition to being a member of the Indiana Bar Association, Schnarr is a former president of both the Dubois County Bar Association and the Dubois County Estate Planning Commission.

“As an attorney, I have learned that there are varying points of view on every issue, and I believe that each perspective deserves the right to be heard.  In order to make responsible and informed decisions, I think that it is our duty and responsibility to listen to and give consideration to all sides on an issue.”

Schnarr is a member of Trinity United Church of Christ where he has served as president of the church council.  He is a member and current treasurer of the Kiwanis Club of Ferdinand and has served on the Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dubois County. Schnarr also serves on the Indiana 15 Regional Planning Commission Board of Directors and the City of Jasper Wastewater Subcommittee.

“I have had the fortunate opportunity of calling Jasper my home for 37 years and feel that I have benefitted greatly from all that this community has had to offer and still has to offer to its citizens,” Schnarr said. “I believe that our city’s success is a direct reflection of our citizens and our city’s various department heads, service boards, employees and elected officials. If re-elected, I look forward to continuing to work with the citizens of Jasper and its leaders to continue our city’s growth and success.  I hope to have the opportunity to continue to serve our community as the District 2 Councilman for the City of Jasper.”

He and his wife, Dana, live on Daisy Lane and are the proud parents of three children, Addison, 6, Corbin, 4, and Hannah, 2.
