Ruth Kays, 79

Ruth Kays, 79, of Jasper, IN, passed away at 5:20 a.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2014, at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.

Ruth was born on August 17, 1935 in Huntingburg, Indiana to Hilbert and Racie (Emmons) Stieneker. She married William Kays Jr. on February 2, 1997 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg, Indiana. He preceded her in death on November 29, 1997.

Ruth was a salesperson for home furnishing and interior design in the Jasper area for many years. She was a member of the Jasper VFW Post #673 Auxiliary. She was passionate about animals and volunteered for the Dubois County Humane Society for many years.

She is survived by five daughters, Terry Pancake and her husband Roger, of Jasper, Jacqueline Dillon and her husband Robert, of Loogootee, Patty Streicher and her husband Gene, of Jasper, Kathy Kress and her husband Ed, of Tell City, and Mary Jahn and her partner Kenneth Kippenbrock, Ferdinand; one son, Michael Miller and his wife Kathy, of Jasper; 10 grandchildren and two step-grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren, and one step-great-great-grandchild.

Preceding her in death beside her husband was a half-brother, Paul Forbes.

There will be no visitation at Becher-Kluesner Funeral Home, burial will be at a later date.
