Ruth Katherine Schneider, 99, Huntingburg
Ruth Katherine Schneider, 99, of Huntingburg, passed away at 5:50 p.m. on October 24, 2019, at St. Charles Health Campus, Jasper.

Ruth was born on July 30, 1920, in Hymera, Indiana, to Fredrick and Stella (Gard) Guest. She married Norbert Schneider of Jasper on June 2, 1946. He preceded her in death on November 27, 1976.
Ruth graduated from Indiana State Teachers College in 1942 with a degree in secondary education and taught English and Literature at Hymera High School. She was a U.S. Navy veteran and served during World War II. She was a member of St. Mary’s Parish, Huntingburg, the Huntingburg Study Club, a past member of the Huntingburg Public Library Board and past president of St. Joseph’ Hospital Auxiliary.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband; one child, Timothy; her parents; and two brothers, Kenneth Guest and Ralph Guest.
She is survived by two daughters and four sons: Nanette (Lee) Snowden-Knohl of Evanston, Ill., Patricia (Mark) Deal of Bloomington, Ind., John N. (Darlene) Schneider of Beeville, Texas, Dr. Lawrence (Phyllis) Schneider of Columbus, Ind., Philip (Charlotte) Schneider of Huntingburg, and Tony (Nancy) Schneider of Leesburg, S.C.; 19 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Ruth K. Schneider will be held at 10:00 a.m. ET on Thursday, October 31, 2019, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post #2366 Memorial Detail. The funeral Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Ryan Hilderbrand.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2019. A parish vigil service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

very sorry for your loss, Ruth and I visited at my garden pm her evening walks, she got me started on one of her favorite recipes, risotto. now a favorite of mine, and I think of her every time risotto is on my table.
