Ruth A. Mehringer, 79, Jasper

Ruth A. Mehringer, 79, of Jasper, passed away at 3:00 a.m. Thursday, May 24, 2018, at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand.

Ruth was born in Jasper on October 15, 1938, to Edward A. and Kathryn (Neuhoff) Burger. She married Norbert L. Mehringer on June 16, 1959 in Precious Blood Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on June 2, 2016.

Ruth retired as an assistant manager from Big Lots in Jasper, where she had worked since their opening. Previously she had also worked for 3-D in Jasper.

She was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper.

She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Syracuse Orange fan and enjoyed playing cards, crafts, listening to country music, and spending time with friends and family.

She is survived by two daughters, Diane “Dee Dee” Kilian and fiancé (Keith Arnold) of Jasper and Susie Mehringer of Syracuse, N.Y.; two sons, Mark Mehringer and fiancée Chrissy Byrd of Jaspe and Shaun Mehringer (Joyce) of Celestine; three grandchildren, Shelby Mehringer, and Eli and Wyatt Mehringer.

Preceding her in death were three brothers, Jerome “Bud” Burger, Virgil Burger, and Elmer Burger.

Funeral services for Ruth A. Mehringer will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 30, 2018, at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.

A visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2018, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, and one hour before services from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Precious Blood Catholic Church, the American Alzheimer’s Association, or to a favorite charity.
