Russell R. Kendall, age 86, of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away at 2:29 p.m., Friday, September 6, 2013 at his home in the presence of his family.

He was born June 11, 1927 in Huntingburg, Indiana to John T. and Mary M. (Conner) Kendall.

He was united in marriage to Doris Jane Birk on January 27, 1948 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper.

Russell was a member of the Y.M.I. Club, V.F.W. Post #2366, and American Legion. He was a former Huntingburg City Council member and former Dubois County Council member. He was very active in his church, St. Mary’s, where he served in various capacities. Russell was also a very civic minded person and served in the United States Army during World War II.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the great outdoors and watching the St. Louis Cardinals.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; one daughter, Mary Beth Seifert; four brothers, Theodore, Everett, Clarence and Yelverton Kendall; four sisters, Sarah Mayo, Ethel Hall, Frieda Kendall and Emma Logsdon; and one great grandchild.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Jane Kendall of Huntingburg; two daughters and two son-in-laws, Patricia (David M.) Seger of Jasper and Rebecca (Ken) Bowling of New Haven, KY; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Gregory A. Kendall of Jasper, John F. (Beth) Kendall of Holland; two sisters, Lois Patton and Nancy Marie Schaeffer, both of Huntingburg; son-in-law, Robert Siefert of Jasper; and by 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Russell R. Kendall will be held at 10:00 a.m., E.D.T., on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post #2366 Memorial Detail.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-8:00 p.m., Monday. A parish rosary and Y.M.I. memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m., Monday afternoon, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: The Y.M.I.
