Roy Lee Bohnenkamper, 84, was found deceased at his residence in Huntingburg on Saturday, October 10, 2015.

He was born June 22, 1931 in Dale, Indiana, to Victor Bohnenkamper, Sr. and Dorothy (Medcalf) Bohnenkamper.

He graduated from Huntingburg High School and received his Associate’s degree from Vincennes University. Roy was retired from the Jasper Municipal Water Treatment Plant where he worked for over 30 years. He was currently employed by the Dubois County Solid Waste District as a site attendant in Huntingburg. Roy was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post #2366, and the Huntingburg Bowling League. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed vacationing and spending time with his family. He served in the United States Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War. 

Roy was preceded in death by his father, Victor Bohnenkamper, Sr.; his mother, Dorothy (Medcalf) White; one brother, Victor Bohnenkamper, Jr.; and one sister, Joyce Knust.

He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Tammy (Larry) Small of Richland, Ind.; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Tony (LaDonna) Bohnenkamper of Wylie, Texas and Todd Bohnenkamper of Colchester, Conn.; one brother,Curt Bohnenkamper of Peru, Ind.; two half-sisters, Shirley Hart of Branson, Mo. and Gail Pries of St. Louis, Mo.; by six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Roy Bohnenkamper will be held at 11:00 a.m. EDT on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow in Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post #2366 Memorial Detail. Pastor Mark West will officiate at the funeral.
