Ross James Cook, 65, Stendal

Ross James Cook, 65, of Stendal, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital with his family by his side.

He was born June 8, 1961, in Evansville to Charles DeWayne Cook and Joann (Barrett) Cook.

He attended the University of Evansville for mechanical and electrical engineering, worked at the AES Power Plant as a Control Board Operator, and was a member of Oasis Assembly of God. He was a hard-working man with many attributes: a farmer, a construction worker, and even a home builder. He was known as a “Jack of All Trades” and a “Mr. Fix It”, and helped those around him, stopping at nothing to love his neighbors as himself. Next to the definition of “provider” would be his picture, as he was exactly that for his wife, sons, family, and friends. Ross was caring, kind, compassionate, and had quite the sense of humor.

One of his greatest joys in life was marrying the love of his life, Claudette Greer Cook on August 4, 2008. She was his other half, his heart and soul, and helped make life feel complete. Ross will be missed beyond measure and life will never be the same for his family and friends.

Ross is survived by his wife of almost 19 years, Claudette Greer Cook of Stendal; sons, Issac Ross Cook and Isaiah James Cook; mother, Joann Cook; father-in-law, Luther Greer, Jr., siblings, Greg Cook (Sue) and Kelly Jo Cook; siblings-in-law, Regina McDaniel, Leslie Greer (Roni), Gregory Greer (Karla), Riley Hill, and Darrin Hill (Tori); numerous nieces and nephews, and several great-nieces and great-nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles DeWayne Cook; mother-in-law, Anna Louise Greer; and sister-in-law, Linda McDaniel. 

A funeral service celebrating Ross’ life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Oasis Assembly of God in Princeton with Pastor John Spencer officiating. Interment will follow at Sand Hill Cemetery near Lyles Station. Visiting hours will be held at the church on Friday from 10 until service time.
