Rosemary Schnaus, 99, of Jasper, passed away at 12:53 p.m. on Monday, September 28, 2026, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.
Rosemary was born in Jasper on September 5, 1927, to Benjamin and Victoria (Hopf) Sermersheim.
She married Robert L. Schnaus on May 3, 1947, in St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland. He preceded her in death on October 21, 2016.
She was employed by GE Electric. She was a dedicated farmer’s wife and mother.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, St. Anne’s Society, and the Ireland Sportsman Club.
Rosemary loved her pets, shopping, and getting her nails done. She enjoyed listening to Steve Harvey. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by one daughter, Vicki (Dr. Bernard) Nonte of Jasper; son-in-law, Donald Brosmer of Ireland; one sister, Linda Rohleder; one brother, Bob Sermersheim; sister-in-law, Annie Burger; six grandchildren, Emily (Chris) Shockley, Scott (Aubrey) Schroeder, Lydia Schroeder and fiancé, John Montgomery, Evan (Megan) Brosmer, Jenna (Josh) Anderson, and Calley (Jake) West; step-grandchildren: Jesse (Heather) Nonte, Jenny (Michael) Ludwig, April Butcher; seven great-grandchildren, Celia and Grayson Shockley, Nolan Brosmer, Gracie Brosmer, Brooklyn Lawson, Landon and Corey Anderson; four step-great grandchildren, Lily and Audrey Nonte, Axel and Jude Ludwig.
Besides her husband, she is preceded in death by one daughter, Geralyn Brosmer; grandson, Todd Brosmer; three sisters, Betty (Linus) Fuhs, Dorothy (Ed) Bartley, and Rita (Don) Werne; two brothers, Jerome (Laverne) Sermersheim and John (Phyllis) Sermersheim; brother-in-law, Wes Rohleder; and sister-in-law, Janice “Dolly’ Sermersheim.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Rosemary Schnaus will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at the church on Thursday.
