Rosemary Ann (Fischer) Rowe, 92, of Mt. Vernon passed away February 9, 2015 at Deaconess Hospital.

She was born December 14, 1922 in Posey County to George Sr. and Frances (Miller) Fischer.

Rosemary was an active and lifetime member of St. Matthew Catholic Church where she was in the Lady’s Club, and Quilter’s Group. She was part of the Church Parish Council for several years and was very active in the St. Matthew Summer Social. In 2001, The Catholic Diocese of Evansville awarded her the lifetime membership of The Bruté Society in recognition of exemplary stewardship. Rosemary was also a member of the Eagles and Moose Lodge. In 1999, she was awarded the International Co-Worker of the Year by the Women of the Moose. Rosemary enjoyed quilting and fancy handwork, cooking, flower gardening, playing cards; bridge and clabber, and spending quality time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 38 years, James “Jim” Rowe; brothers, Fred, Joseph, John, Henry, George Jr., and Ben Fischer; sisters, Mary Nix, Bernadine Osban, and Margaret Buchanan.

She is survived by her son, J. Waite (Carolyn) Rowe of Mt. Vernon; daughters, Linda Willis of Mt. Vernon and Beverly (David) Pleiss of Jasper; four grandchildren, William (Delynda) Rowe, Allison (Greg) Moudy, Jeffrey (Wendi) Pleiss and Melissa (Jan) Ilgen; four great-grandchildren, Samantha and Abbie Rowe, T.J. Thomas, and Charley Rose Pleiss; three step-great-grandchildren, Cody and Kasey Logan and Carissa Moudy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am Friday, February 13, 2015, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 421 Mulberry St. Mt. Vernon, IN with Fr. Jim Sauer officiating and burial to follow in Bellefontaine Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday, February 12, 2015, at Schneider Funeral Home, 512 Main St. Mt. Vernon.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Lung, Cancer, or Heart Association.
