Rose “Joan” Blount, 77, Huntingburg

Rose “Joan” Blount, 77, Huntingburg, passed away at 2:30 p.m., on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at her residence.
She was born October 6, 1938, in Loogootee to Omar James and Mary Conrad (Meyer) VanHoy. She married Charles E. Bount on July 1, 1961, in Loogootee.
Joan was a retired registered nurse and worked at Memorial Hospital in Jasper for 30 years. She was a member of Christ Community Fellowship in Huntingburg; enjoyed reading, working on jigsaw puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren; and was an avid euchre player.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles E. Blount, who passed away May 28, 2009; and one sister, Peg Sefton.
She is survived by two daughters and two sons-in-law, Jamie (David) Oldham of Huntingburg and Jennifer (Jay) Kerkhoff of Holland; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael (Clara) Blount of Huntingburg, Bert (Susan) Blount of Chrisney and Chad Blount of Evansville; one sister and brother-in-law, Dee (Bill) Grinnell of Santa Monica, Calif.; one brother and sister-in-law, Chuck (Pat) VanHoy of Greenwood, Ind.; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Rose “Joan” Blount will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2016, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Cup Creek Cemetery near Velpen.
Pastor Jan Jay Miller will officiate at the funeral service.
Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday and also from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Saturday. Memorial contributions can be made to Christ Community Fellowship or to a favorite charity.
