Roscoe L. Dorsam, 98

Roscoe L. Dorsam, age 98, of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away at 8:15 p.m., Saturday, May 10, 2014, at The Waters of Huntingburg nursing center in Huntingburg.

He was born October 2, 1915 in Huntingburg, Indiana, to Henry and Matilda (Aufderhar) Dorsam.

He married Anita Aufderhar on February 27, 1935 in Huntingburg.

Anita passed away in 1962.

He then married Dorothy (Lee) Vaughn on July 27, 1968 at Salem United Church of Christ in Huntingburg.

Roscoe was a retired carpenter; graduated from Holland High School; was a member of Salem United Church of Christ; and was an avid woodworker. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a private in the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anita (Aufderhar) Dorsam, who died in 1962; one son, Clinton Doersam; two daughters, Marva Stillwell and Judith Brosmer; one brother, Floyd Dorsam; one sister, Lucille Schwartz; and two grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Dorsam of Huntingburg; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jerald Dorsam of Jasper, Donald (Bernice) Dorsam of Jasper; one step son and step daughter-in-law, Ronnie (Margaret) Vaughn of Hanson, of Kentucky; by 16 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

Graveside services for Roscoe Dorsam will be held at 1:00 p.m., EDT, on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg with Reverend Mark West officiating. The V.F.W. Post #2366 Memorial Detail will conduct military graveside rites.

Family and friends will meet at the cemetery for the graveside service. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg has been entrusted with the burial arrangements. Condolences may be shared online at www.nassandson.com.
