Robert W Adcock, 84, Jasper

Robert W Adcock, 84, of Jasper, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026, at Hooverwood Living in Indianapolis with his sister by his side.

He was born to Dale and Mabel (Russell) Adcock on November 29, 1941, in Flint, Michigan.

After the family moved to Norwalk, Connecticut, he graduated from Norwalk High School and enrolled at Anderson University to study business. Bob was a four-year starter on both the baseball and football teams at Anderson, including starting both ways on the football team. In baseball, he was a three-time team MVP (1961-63) and a two-time All-Conference (1962-63) selection. In football, he was All-Conference after the 1962 season. He was inducted into the Anderson College Hall of Fame for baseball in 2007.

After college, Bob was drafted by the Detroit Tigers and also played in the minor league systems of the Cincinnati Reds and Philadelphia Phillies. After his baseball career, he worked as a regional sales representative for more than 30 years at Shark and Bunker Remo Information Systems.

Bob lived all across the USA, including New York, Atlanta, Houston, Ft. Lauderdale, and Los Angeles, where he met the true love of his life, his daughter, Ingrid. Bob spent the next few years living in Rancho Santa Margarita and Santa Barbara, raising Ingrid, then returned to Anderson to help take care of his mother. Following her passing, he married Sandy Forbes and moved to Jasper, Indiana. Sandy and Bob divorced in 2024. Bob spent the last year residing at Serenity Spring Senior Living at Northwood in Jasper.  

Bob was a top-notch athlete well into his 70s, still enjoying basketball and golf, finishing up as a golf pro at Sultan’s Run Golf Course in Jasper. Throughout his life, he loved skiing, diving, racquetball, and tennis. He also continued his love of baseball by coaching his daughter’s softball team.

Bob was known by all as easy-going, kind-hearted, and loving toward his family and many good, very supportive friends.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Ingrid Russell of Indianapolis; his sister, Margaret Cole Broughton of Gig Harbor, Washington; and his brother, Byron Adcock of San Antonio, Texas.
