Robert “Rob” L. Schnaus, 89, Ireland, passed away at 11:05 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2016 at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

Rob was born in Ireland, Indiana on January 29, 1927 to Albert and Cecelia (Dick) Schnaus. He married Rosemary Sermersheim on May 3, 1947 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana.

He was a United States Army Veteran, serving post World War II in London, England for eighteen months. Rob was a lifetime farmer. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, a past member of the St. Mary’s Parish Council, the Ireland K of C, the Ireland Sportsman Club, the American Legion Post #147, and he was a former Director of Patoka Valley Feed. He enjoyed farming, golfing, spending time with family, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and I.U. Basketball Fan.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Schnaus of Ireland; one daughter, Vicki Nonte and her husband Bernard of Jasper; one son-in-law, Donald Brosmer of Ireland; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren: three sisters, Martha Stenftenagel and her husband Joe of Jasper, Annie Burger of Jasper and Betty Shelly of Franklin; one brother, Leroy Schnaus and his wife Dorothy of Jasper.

Preceding him in death are one daughter, Geralyn Brosmer, one grandson, Todd Brosmer, and five brothers, Sylvester, Virgil, Edward, Albert Jr., and Larry Schnaus.

Funeral services for Robert “Rob” L. Schnaus will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The American Legion Post #147 will conduct military gravesite rites.

Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time on Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland.
