Robert Lee Mohr, 79

Robert Lee Mohr, 79, of Ferdinand, passed away, Wednesday, November 5th at his home.

Robert was born September 4, 1935 in Ferdinand to John Sr. and Augusta (Oser) Mohr.

He married Barbara Meyer on September 3, 1962 at Mary Help of Christians Church in Mariah Hill.

Robert was a member of; St. Ferdinand Catholic Church and its St. Joe’s Sodality; Mariah Hill YMI Council #582; Ferdinand Historical Society; Ferdinand Community Center; Tri County YMCA and was a charter member of the Ferdinand Jaycees.

Robert graduated from Ferdinand High School in 1955. He was the second recipient of the Sportsman Award for participation in basketball, track and baseball. Robert served six years in the National Guard and was employed at Schreiner and Verkamp IGA for 42 years. He retired from Jasper Cabinet. Robert was an avid fan of the New York Yankees. He followed Indiana University Basketball and the Indianapolis Colts.

Robert is survived by his wife, Barbara of Ferdinand; one son, Donnie Mohr and wife Kim of Ferdinand; one daughter, Gina Hides and husband Jay of Louisville, Ky.; three grandchildren, Claire, Blake and Cole; two step-grandchildren, Brittani and David; two step-great-grandchildren; five brothers, Dick and wife Elaine of Mariah Hill, Ron and wife Doris, John Jr. and wife Marge and Paul Mohr and wife Becky, all of Ferdinand, Ed Oser and wife Marty of Ferdinand; three sisters, Dolly Harris and husband Jim of Huntingburg, Vita Voegerl and husband Ken, Francis “Bootsie” Brinkman and husband Jerome, all of Ferdinand; sister-in-law, Julia Mohr of Ferdinand.

Robert was preceded in death by one brother, Bill Mohr.

Visitation will be Friday from 2-8 p.m. and Saturday from 7:00 to 8:30 a.m. at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. Funeral services will be Saturday at 9:00 a.m. in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
