Robert Lee Luker, 85

Robert Lee Luker, 85, of Huntingburg, formerly of Stendal, passed away Monday, August 24, 2015, at his home in Huntingburg.

He was born August 25, 1929 in Stendal, to Elmer and Ida (Hagemeyer) Luker. He married Beverly Katter on August 26, 1950 in Stendal.

Bob graduated from Stendal High School in 1947. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Education from Oakland City College in 1959 and received his Master’s degree in Education from Indiana State University in 1965. He was a teacher and coach at Stendal and Winslow High Schools from 1959-1964. In 1964, Bob became a guidance counselor and coach at Huntingburg High School and concluded his career at Southridge High School in 1991.

He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Stendal and a past member of the Indiana State Teacher’s Association and Indiana High School Coaches Association.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Kern Luker, Austin Luker, and Gerald Luker who died in infancy.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly Luker of Huntingburg; three daughters and three sons-in-law, Gail (John) Garner of Greencastle, Ind., Debi (Phil) Ohanian of Huntingburg and Joyce (David) Boeglin of Terre Haute; one son and daughter-in-law, Mike (Michelle) Luker of New Palestine, Ind.; two brothers, Paul Luker of Pikeville and Donald Luker of Stendal; one sister, Karen Jones of Stendal; by 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Robert Luker will be held at 10:00 a.m., EDT on Thursday, August 27, 2015, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Stendal with burial to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Stendal.  Pastor Ed Wicks will officiate at the services.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday and also at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church one hour prior to the funeral on Thursday.
