Robert L. Steffen, 92, Jasper
Robert L. Steffen, 92, passed away at 2:45 a.m. on Sunday, October 18, 2020, in Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

Bob was born in Jasper on January 27, 1928, to Roman and Margaret (Rohlman) Steffen.
Bob was a Jasper High School graduate, and then earned a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University. He was a United States Air Force veteran. Bob retired from Crane Naval Base where he had been a chemist for several years. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper and a 56-year member of the American Chemical Society and the Association of Indiana University Chemists. He was an avid fan of I.U. football and basketball and the stock market. He was also proud of the fact that he never bought a lottery ticket.
He is survived by one sister, Gertrude Steffen of Jasper; seven nieces and nephews, Karin Malone of Oaktown, Sarah (Simon) Wigand of Jasper, Mike (Kate) Terwiske of Las Vegas, Nev., Deb (Chuck) Chamberlain of Fishers, Pat (Joyce) Terwiske of Richmond, Nancy Cannon of Jasper, and Tom (Rose) Terwiske of Jasper.
Preceding him in death is one sister, Dorothy Terwiske.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 22, 2020, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper with a small prayer service at 10:00 a.m. and burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. The American Legion Post #147 will conduct military gravesite rights.
