Robert G. “Bob” Herbig, 81

Robert G. “Bob” Herbig, age 81, of Ireland, Indiana, passed away at 5:56 p.m. on Monday (March 18, 2013) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana.

Bob was born on December 6, 1931 in Jasper, Indiana to Fidelis and Mabel (Goldman) Herbig. He married Carol Wagner on August 9, 1955 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana.

He owned and operated Bob and Carol’s Catering with his wife for over 25 years. He was an Army Veteran who served during the Korean War.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, the VFW Post #673, the American Legion Post #147, and the Ireland Knights of Columbus.

He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, fishing, and he was an avid Indiana University sports fan and St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Fan.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Herbig, Ireland, IN; one daughter, Sherri Patton, and her husband Brian, Jasper, IN; one son, Tim Herbig, and his wife Carol, Ireland, IN; four grandchildren, two step grandchildren, one great-grandson and one step-great-granddaughter; one sister, Mary Schlacter, Ferdinand, IN; and one brother, Fidelis Jr. “Duke” Herbig, and her wife Rosie, St. Anthony, IN

Preceding him in death are one sister, Geraldine “Sis” Friedman, and one brother , Don Herbig.

Funeral services for Robert G. “Bob” Herbig will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday (March 22, 2013) at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The VFW Post #673 will conduct military gravesite rites.

Friends may call from 2:00-8:00p.m. on Thursday (March 21, 2013) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
