Robert E. Altmeyer, 76

Robert E. Altmeyer, 76, of Stendal, Indiana, passed away at 3:55 p.m., on Monday, March 16, 2015, at The Waters of Huntingburg nursing center in Huntingburg.

He was born October 29, 1938 in Dubois County, Indiana, to George Altmeyer, Sr. and Alice (Wilkey) Altmeyer.

He married Rebecca Sue Eichmiller on September 11, 1971 in Jasper, Indiana.

Mr. Altmeyer was a factory worker; an avid fisherman; and enjoyed squirrel hunting and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son who died prior to birth, Robert Altmeyer; three sisters, Henrietta King, Georgie Grayer and Louise Morgan; and three brothers, George Altmeyer Jr., Herman Altmeyer and Harvey Altmeyer.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Sue “Becky” Altmeyer of Stendal; one son, Robert Altmeyer, Jr. of Kokomo; one daughter, Alice Altmeyer of Stendal; two sisters, Louanna Waugh of North Carolina and Renee Gehlhausen of Jasper; one brother, Donnie Lee Altmeyer of Washington; one granddaughter, Katherine Altmeyer of Huntingburg; one step-grandson, Scott Allen Eichmiller of Arizona; and three step-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services for Robert Altmeyer will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg.  Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Chapel from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, the day of the service.
