Robert C. Gutgsell, 78, Jasper

Robert C. Gutgsell, 78, of Jasper, passed away surrounded by family at 5:25 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Brookside Village in Jasper.

He was born in Jasper on April 14, 1948, to Maurice and Louise (Fritch) Gutgsell. 

He married Barbara Salb on September 12, 1970, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper.

Bob, also known as “Moose”, was a 1966 graduate of Jasper High School and then earned his Bachelor’s Degree in accounting from St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Indiana.

He retired from Kimball, where he had worked in management for many years.

Bob was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana.

He was a model railroader along with his wife. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Indiana Hoosiers basketball fan.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barb Gutgsell of Jasper; three children, Kristin Gutgsell of Jasper, Robert II (Elizabeth) Gutgsell of Jasper, and Megan (Erik) Heinz of Brownsburg, Ind.; three grandchildren, Robert III “Trey” Gutgsell and Caleb and Josie Heinz; two sisters, Barb (Lloyd) Gudorf of Jasper and Maureen Gutgsell of Jasper.

Preceding him in death are his parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Robert C. Gutgsell will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2026, at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, with burial to follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at the church on Monday.
