Robert C. “Bob” Garno, 81, Jasper

Robert C. “Bob” Garno, 81, of Jasper, passed away at 10:40 p.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper, Indiana, surrounded by family.

Bob was born in Syracuse, New York, on January 19, 1945. 

He married Mary Kay Louer on September 24, 1981, in Syracuse, New York.

He was a graduate of Fabius-Pompey in New York.

He was a United States Navy veteran, who served in the Vietnam War.  He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America and had served as president of the organization.

He worked as a welder for Carrier Global for over 10 years.

Bob had a passion for racing and raced Dirt Modifieds in New York. His grandson, Reed, took up his passion for the sport, and Bob enjoyed traveling across the country watching him race. 

In addition, Bob enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Kay Garno of Jasper; two children, Eddie Garno of Syracuse, N.Y. and Amanda (Charles) Whitney of Jasper; four stepchildren, Connie (Chris) Kolby of Lavonia, Ga., Michael (Kelly) Ganser of Monroe, N.Y., Matthew Ganser (companion, Cheyenne) of Seneca, S.C., and Mark Ganser of Effort, Penn.; one grandson, Reed Whitney; step-grandchildren, Michaela Ganser, Madeline Ganser, Abby Ganser, Rachael Ganser, Laura Ganser, and Nichole Ganser; and one brother, James Garno of Syracuse, N.Y.

Preceding him in death is a daughter, Anita Garno.

A visitation for Robert C. Garno will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, Indiana.

Fr. Keith Hart will have a prayer service at 1:00 p.m. to close the visitation at the funeral home.  The V.F.W. Post #673 will conduct military rites at the funeral home following the prayer service.
