Rita Marie Niehaus, 84

Rita Marie Niehaus, 84, of Ferdinand, died Tuesday June 25,2013 in Scenic Hills Care Center, Ferdinand.

She was born April 9, 1929 in St. Henry, IN to Leonard and Rosa (Sermersheim) Lindauer. She married Albert A. Niehaus on February 14,1953 in St. Henry Catholic Church, he preceded her in death on October 24,1998.

Rita was a retired seamstress at St. Meinrad Archabbey. She was a member of St. Ferdinand Parish, its St. Anne’s Sodality, and the parish quilting group. She was also a member of Ferdinand D of I. Her hobbies were quilting, gardening and sewing.

Surviving are a daughter, Christine Ann Mahuron and her husband Joe of Salem, IN; a son, Matthew John Niehaus and his wife Emily of Chattanooga, TN; four grandchildren also survive. Three brothers, Willie and wife Dorothy Lindauer and Norbert and wife Cecelia Lindauer, all of St. Henry, Marty and his wife Mildred Lindauer of Ft. Branch, IN.

She was also preceded in death by 4 brothers, Joseph, Edwin, Linus, and Father Prosper Lindauer.

Funeral services 10:00 a.m. Friday in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and 7 to 9:30 p.m. Friday at Becher Funeral Home, Ferdinand.
