Rita Mae Oeding, 87

Rita Mae Oeding, 87, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 13, 2014, at the Carolinas Medical Center in Pineville, N.C.

Rita Mae was born on December 11, 1926 in Jasper, Indiana to August C. and Mary (Nordhoff) Rasche. She married James Oeding on September 16, 1950. He preceded her in death on April 30, 2004.

Rita Mae retired from Jasper Chair, where she had worked for over 25 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper and the St. Joseph St. Ann’s Society, the Jasper Moose, the Jasper Legion #147 Auxiliary, and the VFW #673 Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time in Florida, taking photographs, and spending time in her Florida room at her house in Jasper.

She is survived by two daughters, Marsha Stallings and her husband Steve, of Jasper and Mary Hill and her husband Danny, of Ft. Mill, S.C.; two sons, Michael A. Oeding and his wife Mel, of Velpen and Mark Oeding and his wife Leta, of Linton, Ind.; 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death beside her husband, were two sisters, Martha Eckerle and Alvina Leinenbach.

Funeral services for Rita Mae Oeding will be held at Noon on Monday, October 20, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.
