Rita Mae Krodel, age 85

Rita Mae Krodel, age 85 of Jasper, passed away at 9:00 a.m. on Monday (April 29, 2013) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana.

Rita was born on December 15, 1927 in Dubois, Indiana to Frank and Emma (Engelhart) Beckman. She married Richard Krodel on June 21, 1952 at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Dubois, Indiana. He preceded her in death on December 19, 2008.

Rita retired from Indiana Furniture Industries.

She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, the Jasper Circle of the Daughters of Isabella, and the St. Ann’s Society.

She enjoyed puzzles, knitting, playing cards, and spending time with family.

Preceding her in death are four sisters, Loretta Fischer, Sophia Bochart, Laverne Braun, and Mary Jane Nigg, and five brothers, Emil, Othmar, Henry, Edwin, and Odillo Beckman, and two brothers who died in infancy, Ralph and Victor Beckman.

Funeral services for Rita Mae Krodel will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday (May 2, 2013) at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday (May 1, 2013) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. The Daughters of Isabella and the St. Ann’s Society will pray the rosary at 1:45 p.m.
