Richard E. Lange, 83

Richard E. Lange, 83, of Ferdinand, passed away Thursday, December 5, 2013, at his home.

Richard was born June 16, 1930 to Herman and Ida (Begle) Lange in Ferdinand.

He married Aleene Blessinger on April 19, 1952 in St. Joseph Church in Jasper.

Richard is survived by his wife Aleene Lange; three sons, Jim Lange and wife Maria, Ken Lange and wife Selma, Dick Lange and wife Jane; two daughters, Bonnie Kerstiens and husband Gene, Judy Englert and husband Greg all of Ferdinand; one sister Lastie Carl of New Albany; one brother, Norman Lange of Ferdinand; half sister, Bernita Metz of St. Anthony; half brother, Donnie Hoppenjans of Ferdinand; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.

Richard was preceded in death by three brothers, Johnny Lange, Ernest Lange and Alfred Lange; one sister, Minnie Hoppenjans.

Richard was a retired farmer. He was past director of Farm Bureau Co-Op, past director of Farm Bureau as well as past director of Huntingburg Conservation Club.

He was a member of St. Anthony and Ferdinand Senior Citizens, St. Ferdinand Parish and its St. Joseph’s Sodality.

Richard enjoyed gardening, fishing, traveling, spending time with family and friends and playing cards and dominos.

Visitation will be Sunday from 2-8 p.m. at Becher Funeral Home and also Monday from 7:00-9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Condolences may be shared at www.becherfuneralhome.com.
